Blood Work

This morning we took Everett to have his blood taken. Ivan sat in the chair with him and I was in charge of holding his arm. I think I was more nervous than Everett. Well... when the needle went in I closed my eyes and held on to Everett's arm really tight. After the first vile was full the nurse moved on to the next and the blood wasn't coming out that quick. I thought that maybe I was squeezing his arm to tight so I released my grip a little - BIG MISTAKE! Everett pulled his arm back, the needle came out and blood was shooting out of his arm. Well of course there wasn't enough blood in the second vile so we had to move to the other arm! I felt so horrible I almost cried. Poor little guy!

Hot and Humid!

Today was a very hot day - high of 92 degrees. Of course Everett wanted to be outside all day. When he had enough of the park we took him to the roof. Ivan took out the hose for him to cool off. He loved it!

Potty Mouth Toddler

So it's definitely confirmed - Everett curses!

A few weeks ago I dropped something and said "Oh Sh*t" and a little voice behind me repeated it. I wasn't too sure but then later that weekend he was gardening with Grandma and he dropped some dirt and out came Oh Sh*t in his little voice! Although it was funny at first he is using it often in the right context. Just last night I said it again and not even a second later Everett whispered oh sh*t - I really have to watch what I say!

Crusin' in NYC

Everett has really been enjoying his "Ride" these days. He loves to take his car out and cruise around town. Yesterday evening we went to go meet Ivan at the bus and Everett brought his cell phone. For 2 blocks he was talking on his phone while driving saying Hello Dada - Hello.... It was way too cute!

Bet you don't have one of these....

Everett loves balloons just as much as the next 2 year old. So... last week he was at the deli looking up at a balloon they had above the sandwich counter. I guess the guy behind the counter couldn't resist his cute little face - so he gave it to him. I think Everett could be the only kid in NYC with a Boars Head EverRoast Chicken Balloon!

How to Deal with the Terrible 2's...

...CAGE EM'. Although Everett has had his Terrible 2 moments we didn't really cage him. This past weekend he was at the Versaci's house and crawled into their dog's cage. It was all his doing .... really.

The "O" Face

When Everett is excited or shocked he puts on his "O" face. It usually lasts about 30 seconds and he is really good at it!
Adorable!

CAKE PLEASE!

Everett really knows what he wants and he's not stopping till he gets some cake.
Good thing he is having a few Birthday celebrations this year!
Can't believe our baby is almost 2!

Bring Your Kids to Work Day

I had the privilege of bringing Everett to work yesterday! He really knew just what to do. He sat right in my chair began typing and took his first phone call (luckily it was Aunt Jenny calling). He spent some time with my boss's daughter Maddie in their own cubicle. She read to him, they colored and then they enjoyed a movie together. It was like a first date! Then it was time to head home for a nap and for Mommy to get back to work. It was a good day at the office for Everett!

Bryant Park

Ivan and I met Everett in Bryant Park for lunch. He was so excited to see us and to ride the carousel. Such a pleasure to hang with our boy on our lunch hour!!!

Not a HURRICANE???

This past weekend we had some crazy weather! The news said it would be a bad rain and wind storm but we think it should have been categorized as a HURRICANE. I think this was worse than Hurricane Gloria in the 80's. Trees were down everywhere and Bellmore and Merrick lost power for 2 days. Here are some pictures of the aftermath. It took days for them to remove the tree debris and the sidewalks are still tore up.

JUMP ROPE

We were up on the roof the other day enjoying the weather when a guy came up to Jump Rope. Well, Everett was amazed by this action. He has never seen anyone jump rope before. As he watched the guy jump, Everett grabbed onto the chairs and JUMPED every time the guy JUMPED. It was adorable!

TOYSRUS Trip

Yesterday afternoon we took Everett to the Ferris Wheel at ToysRus in Time Square. It was his first ride and he loved it. We had the Mr. Potato Head Car. After the Wheel we explored around the store. We came upon the T-Rex and Everett was not so thrilled. He tried to get away from the GINORMOUS creature but ended up in a corner starring up at it. He finally surrendered and jumped into my arms. I don't blame him - that thing is frightening.

First Time In The Snow

Everett had his first time in the snow this past weekend. NYC had a crazy storm on Saturday night which left almost 2 feet on our rooftop! Everett was very unsure about it at first. He didn't understand why he went right through the snow when he tried to walk on it. We tried to just throw him in - but he didn't like that very much. After we cleared an area he sat down and really enjoyed it. Grandma helped build a small mountain and made it into a birthday cake. They both had fun blowing out the fake candle.
All in all it was a good first time in the snow for E!

Hanukkah 2009

On the first night of Hanukkah Everett was unsure of what was going on. We lit the candles and all he wanted to do was blow them out or touch them - of course he achieved both. Each night after the candles were lit we would open presents. By the 8th night we really think Everett understood Hanukkah. He helped Ivan light the candles and then sat there and admired the festival of lights. Such a sweet moment! And then of course more presents!!!! (Check out the awesome tent in the background from the MD Gabel's. Thanks so much - Everett LOVES IT!)

When Everett is done....

When Everett is done with something, whether it be food or a toy he usually just throws it aside. Well I really need to get better at my reflexes....

After a very peaceful dinner (thanks to the DVD Nemo) with the Gabel's and Jenn at Tai Show we went to our favorite ice cream place. Ivan bought Everett his very own Strawberry Shake - of course the smallest size was HUGE.

Well, Everett was done after about 10 minutes and did what he usually does and tossed the cup to the side. I am not sure if it exploded on impact or if I actually tried to catch it and then it exploded. Thankfully we were pulling into Jenn's driveway so I jumped out and let the shake pour off of me and my coat. It was definitely comical! Jenn and Ivan had no idea what happened and just saw me dripping!

Waiting for the Dr. - Let's go Food Shopping!

*
Someone please remind me to never go to the Doctor on a Monday morning.

Everett had a check up on Monday and every sick child from the weekend was stuffed into the tiny waiting room. Thank goodness for Pebbles! She was kind enough to wait in the germ pit while Ivan and I took Everett outside. The wait was going to be more than 30 minutes so we ventured to the corner grocery store. Since it was pretty early it wasn't too crowded and Everett was able to use the mini shopping cart (there aren't that many). It was his first time using the cart and he was a PRO! He knew just what to do. Up and down the aisles, putting bacon, toilet paper and coffee in the basket.

It was just a normal day at the super market for our 18 month old!

Rainy Saturday

We were heading to the car on Saturday and it was just a drizzle so we didn't put the rain guard on Everett's stroller. Well within minutes that drizzle became full rain. Everett was a champ and held on to the GIANT umbrella while we ran to the car. He's such a big boy!

Everett's Dust Buster

With all the little spills and crumbs that come with a toddler we decided to invest in a dust buster. We have had it for a few months now and Everett likes to play with it. Over the past few weeks Everett has been congested so we had to take out the Nebulizer to try and make him feel better. One night after his cous cous fell on the floor he went and grabbed the nozzle off the Nebulizer and tried to use it as a dust buster - it was hysterical. It does have a similar shape.
He's is just too cute and smart.

Here is a picture of the nozzle.

"Socks Suck"

Everett really hates wearing socks. He gets very frustrated when he can't get them off his feet. We have tried to teach him that he needs to pull from the heal but he keeps going straight for the toe area - and when that doesn't work he uses his mouth!!!!

Hey, whatever it takes :0)

And the Mother of the Year Award goes to...

NOT ME! I was so close (well, not really).
So.... Ivan has been talking about this awesome grocery store in the city for a while (PathMark) - it has a parking lot and big aisles with big shopping carts. So we decided to take a trip there last night. It really is huge and quite a difference from other grocery stores in the city. After a while Everett got fussy and needed a diaper change so I took him to the car. With much difficulty and struggle I managed to change his diaper in the back seat, strap him in his car seat and then I proceeded to head to the front seat. I closed the back door and then went to open my door to discover it was LOCKED! I immediately tried the back door again and it was locked too! I looked through the window to see Everett playing with the keys! During my debacle of trying to change a thrashing 1 year old boy in the back tiny seat - I succumbed to giving him the car keys to play with ... NEVER AGAIN! So here I am trying to rip the door off the hinges while Ivan is still in the store. I start knocking on the window and I kept telling Everett to push the button - "push the button Everett, push the button, push the button" ... I must have said it 100 times in 2 seconds - I was freaking out. A million things were running through my head - my cell phone was in the car, I couldn't call Ivan, he was probably going to come out here and break the window to get to Everett, can we call AAA, should Ivan run home and get the spare key.... "push the button Everett, push the button, PUSH THE BUTTON" ... and then finally - click!!!! I WAS IN. My heart was in my stomach. I opened the back door, grabbed the keys and gave Everett a big KISS! He loves those buttons - I'm just glad he pushed the right one. I jumped in the font seat shaking and then gave him a cracker and waited for Daddy so I could tell my tale of why I will not be receiving the Mother of the Year Award - at least not this year!

Here's Everett on the ride home...he doesn't even know what just happened!

Halloween

Last Halloween Everett was 5 months old and sick so he didn't really get to enjoy the holiday - but don't worry he made up for it this year. Picking out a costume was somewhat difficult since he won't wear anything on his head and most costumes had some kind of head gear. After much shopping, we decided to go with the SKELETON PAJAMAS! They were perfect. I spiked up his hair and we were on our way. He was the cutest skeleton and really loved the concept of Halloween - he caught right on. And of course after his new discovery of lolly pops they were his first choice every time!

Fall Leaves

Everett has discovered LEAVES. At first he loved just sitting in them and then he learned that he could dive into them. It is so amazing to see his excitement over this new wonder. We can't wait for so many more first time discoveries with our little boy.
